Six new images from Tarsem Singh’s untitled Snow White film have gone online. Since this is a Tarsem film, the costumes and set design are opulent(华丽的) and grandiose(富丽堂皇的) to the point of being comical(好笑的, 滑稽的). One of the images has Snow White (Lily Collins) wearing a swan for a hat. Aside from swan hats, the images also provide the first look at Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, Armie Hammer as the Prince, and the seven dwarfs. This movie isn’t to be confused with the other Snow White film set for 2012, Snow White and the Huntsman. While that one is being set up as a kind of Lord of the Rings-style fantasy adventure, screenwriter Jason Keller calls Singh’s Snow White movie a “comedic adventure” with action elements. The story has Snow trying to reclaim her birthright from the Evil Queen and fighting with her for the affection of the Prince. I’m not sure how swan hats figure into that.

Singh describes the Evil Queen as, “the cat that ate the canary”. He continues:
“From serial killers to anyone who does evil deeds, they basically have a devil-made-me-do-it excuse, or they hear voices,” he continues. “I decided for the evil queen, this is going to be a person who sees her [good] self — but there’s a mirror personality.”
Singh’s elaboration on the personality of the Evil Queen is particularly baffling(使困惑的) when you consider that this is supposed to be a family-friendly comic-adventure:
“She outsources her evil, just like most people,” says Tarsem. “I wanted a person who is just schizophrenic(精神分裂的). She’s a person who would just do all the evil she needs to do to stay in power.”
